Why you Should Buy a Havanese Dog

Havanese dogs are great pets because they are very friendly and clever. Despite being small in stature, these dogs are full of energy and always ready to entertain and play. They they enjoy being around little kids so they are usually kept in houses where young kids are living. If you are looking to get a dog, consider a havanese dog. There are some thing you should know if you plan on purchasing a havanese dog for your family.

Make sure your train your havanese dog. Make sure you train your havanese dog when they are young. This will give you the best results in its training. Treat your havanese dog like your own kid with lots of love and patience when you are training it. Train your dog consistently so it knows which commands to follow. If you don’t have any know how with training havanes dogs, you can bring your new pet to training classes to get the best outcome.

When training your dog, be strict but not brutal. Puppies will always respond better when you are positive in your approach rather than when you are harsh. When you reward or punish your dog, do so consistently so it does not get confused over commands. When a dog does a good thing, reward it with a treat so your dog understands that this behavior is what is wanted.

Remember havanese dogs don’t obey very easily not because they don’t like to obey you but because they are free spirits by nature and don’t like to get tied down by anything very easily. Since a havanese dog has loads of energy, don’t leave it alone for long periods of time, as they will try to keep themselves entertained in your house. This might lead to a lot of unwanted destruction in your house due to its playful nature. havanese dogs love kids. It’s alright to allow your kids around them provided you set certain guidelines. These guidelines should always see to it that neither your kids nor your pet gets affected or hurt negatively in any way.

Don’t compromise on the quality of food given to your pet. Only feed it with the best quality food which contains all the important nutrients required by a growing dog. If you will try to save on the cost by buying low quality food, you will anyway spend the same amount as you will have to buy the food in larger quantities to compensate for the proportion of nutrients. Always take the help of a dog expert or a vet when you are not able to come with a proper food plan for your pet. When your pet havanese develops allergies, it can face problems on its skin and the digestive system too. Always note whatever symptoms which occur on your pet. You should then contact your vet and tell him in detail about it. Always keep the contact details of a competent vet as you will always need this when your havanese pet needs medical attention.

Use these suggestions and you will be able to care for your new dog very well. These procedures will help make sure the dogs live a long time and be very healthy. People who own pets develop strong attachments for their pets and nobody wants them to die young. Havanese dogs make for great and lovable dogs to own. Havanese dogs are wonderful with children, easy to train, fun, and energetic. They are great pets to own and if you are looking to buy a new dog, you should think about getting one of them.

Chihuahua Dog Origins

The Chihuahua dog is perhaps best known for being the world’s smallest dog breed, narrowly inching out the Yorkshire Terrier for the distinction (though it should be noted that a Yorkie (Yorkshire Terrier) actually holds the title for the world’s smallest dog ever. Surprisingly as well known and popular as the Chihuahua is the world over, the origins of this tiny dog breed remain somewhat shrouded in mystery. What is known without any shred of doubt is that the dog is named for the Mexican state where it was first encountered by American travelers in the late 19th century. Other than that the Chihuahua’s true origins are a mish-mash of conflict.

There are a number of different theories covering the origins of the Chihuahua and they include the following:

Theory One of Chihuahua Dog Origins: The first theory about the origins of the Chihuahua speculates that this dog breed is a descendent of one of the ancient American Indian dogs. Giving weight to this theory is the prevalence of tiny dogs in Toltec history as well as that of the better known Aztecs. According to people who favor this theory, the Chihuahua descended from a small mute dog of the Toltec people called the Techichi, a dog that is said to have existed as far back as the 9th century.

Much like the people who conquered them (the Aztecs) the Toltecs often sacrificed the Techichi dog during religious ceremonies. The Aztecs used to in fact cremate their tiny dogs with the deceased owners. They believed that those tiny dogs acted as spirit guides for the soul of the dead through the journey across the afterlife. Legend has it that the blue-coated variants of the tiny dogs were revered as sacred and potent religious symbols while the red coated dogs often ended up being entrusted with the lofty burden of supporting the sins of the dead and having the dubious honor of being thrown upon a funeral pyre as part of that burden!

Theory Two of Chihuahua Dog Origins: The 2nd theory speculates that the Chihuahua dog originated from Europe, having been transported to the Americas around 1520s, following the victorious conquest of the Spanish armies of Hernando Cortes over the peoples of the region. According to this theory it is believed that the wives of colonial officers charged with governing the new provinces most probably took their beloved pets from their homelands in Europe to help ease their settlement in their new homes located in the unknown lands of the New World.

Eventually some of those new dogs imported by the well-to-do settlers from Europe would have migrated off the great estates of the colonialists and associated with the local people of the surrounding regions. Adding some ounce of support to this theory is a Botticelli painting done at least ten years prior to the conquest that clearly illustrates a Chihuahua-like dog. There are those who also postulate that the Chihuahua truly originated from Malta and is a direct descendant of a tiny dog breed that existed there centuries ago, known as the Maltese Pocket dog.

Theory Three of Chihuahua Dog Origins: The third and final theory hypothesizes that the Chihuahua descended from dogs that hailed from China and was transported on Chinese trader ships. Support for this particular theory is to be found in the assumption that China has traditionally favored small, flat-faced dogs; a description that the Chihuahua dog certainly adheres to.

Rise of The Chihuahua

Whatever the true origins of the Chihuahua dog, the one fact that is under no dispute is that by the late 19th century the dog breed was irrevocably associated with Mexico, specifically the state in which it was discovered by American travelers. Circa 1880 several Chihuahua dogs were transported back to the United States as exotic pets. The Chihuahua was officially registered as a purebred breed in 1903 and by 1923 the Chihuahua Club of America had been established.

It wasn’t until “Rumba King” Xavier Cugat became publicly associated with the Chihuahua (he was often depicted in celebrity pics with a Chihuahua in tow) that the dog breed became popular in the United States. The Rumba King further helped to solidify the nascent popularity of the Chihuahua dog by establishing a Chihuahua breeding business!

Maltese Prince. Guest Of Royalty. The Maltese dog demands respect!

The Maltese breed of dog is one that is immediately distinguishable. It’s small size and long white fur give it a charming, ornamental appearance.

while aficionados of the breed point to its friendly temperament and its high intelligence as hallmarks of this type of dog.

The breed itself is ancient, and has existed in its present form or close to it for at least a thousand years. In ancient times, the Maltese has been called the Roman Ladies’ dog, the Bichon, and the comforter dog.

Although (as can be seen the name) the breed had its heyday on the island of Malta in the Mediterranean sea, the breed itself was thought to originate in from the Far East. It is supposed the dogs made their way west along with the nomadic people who originally bred them.

There is some indication the Maltese may be a descendant of the similarly all-white working and hunting dogs known as the Spitz breed of dog.

It seems that they were bred down purposefully to be useful for rodent control and then the size was maintained for aesthetic purposes.

Due to the fact that Malta was the heavy trading destination, there is a good chance that the original population of diminutive white dogs were left there as bartering goods.

“The Maltese dog has been popular with nobility and aristocracy all over Europe”

Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria in England and Josephine Bonaparte and Marie Antoinette in France were all meant to have owned one or several at different points in their life.

The Maltese’s pure white coat seems to be a result of Roman breeding practices; before the Romans, Maltese dogs used to be found in several light-colored coats. This can be seen in the fact that Maltese puppies are born with some traces of colour but lose them as they age.

Maltese dogs are known to be extremely intelligent and good with children. Despite this, it is not a good idea to have a new baby in the same house with a Maltese puppy, as the puppy will think of the baby as another puppy, and the ensuing play can be troublesome.

Maltese are extremely brave dogs and do not seem to have an appropriate level of fear or respect for larger dogs or humans.

The flipside of this somewhat dangerous trait is that they are highly sociable and are excellent dogs to keep in concert with cats. Anyone who buys a Maltese should be ready to live with a dog that has something of a mind of its own.

This breed is notoriously difficult to housetrain and sometimes will spend their entire lives using a litter box rather than going outside.

They are high energy, but enjoy enclosed spaces, making them excellent house or apartment dogs, and due to the fact that they are non shedding, are an excellent option for people with allergies.

They are also largely independent dogs, and while they do live up to their reputation as lapdogs by occasionally demanding petting, they are still quite pleased to entertain themselves.

You’ll also find that the Maltese dog is a healthy breed.

This Maltese does not suffer with health problems as bad as some breed, with only their teeth causing them problems when they get to be about 8 or 9 years old.
